Eagle Farm Race Track – History and Racing Tips Article

The Eagle Farm Race Track is situated directly across Nudgee Road coming from the Doomben Racetrack. It is owned and at the same time managed by the Brisbane Racing Club which is to date considered as the leading metropolitan race club in Queensland. Brisbane Racing  Club holds over 90 race meetings and hosts more than 300,000 people annually. This huge volume of people attending the race meetings is shared by Eagle Farm Race Track with Doomben Race Track.

The Eagle Farm Race Track has been holding horse races since year 1865. Since then, it has been hosting multiple meetings such as the Summer and Winter Carnival, Stradbroke Handicap, Queensland Derby, Queensland Oaks, The T J Smith and Winter Stakes. Among all these, the most famous event is the Winter Carnival held during May or June of each year and the Summer Carnival, which is held every December of the year. In addition to these, races are also being held at the Eagle Farm Race Track for events like the Exhibition Wednesday, the Melbourne Cup Day, Australia Day and Independence Day. Midweek races are also being held here on various days throughout the week.

The Brisbane Racing Club is the one in charge of the racecourse. Brisbane Racing Club was founded as a result of the amalgamation between two racing clubs namely the Brisbane Turf Club and the Queensland Turf Club. The Club's merging was actually the first ever in the Australian racing industry history making Queensland the present industry leader. Since then, the Brisbane Racing Club has been monitoring all races being held on this racecourse.

Under the club’s supervision, the Eagle Farm Racecourse also functions as an events place where various special occasions can be held such as public festivals, networking breakfast, conferences, outdoor exhibitions, birthday parties, weddings, and a whole lot more. It has a series of boutique function rooms to offer that comes with professional service and event coordinators. The amazing 60 hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens is what makes the place ideal for holding special occasions and events.

With regards to the specifications of the racecourse itself, the racetrack has a total circumference of 2027.36 meters and a straight measurement of 434.8 meters in length. Its surface is turf and follows a clockwise direction. It is conveniently located at the mouth of Brisbane’s southern suburbs, just a few kilometers from the Brisbane Central Business District. The Eagle Farm Racecourse is also known as the home of the Aami Stradbroke Handicap.
